Tale 5: First True Relationship

Tara couldn't wait for the Christmas break to come to an end. She spent most of it on the phone with Harry and not listening to her aunts and uncles telling her to speak her language even though they knew how horrible she was at it.

 Tale 4: The Travelling Mindset

It was a year since her 'break-up' with Gbenga and the loss of her friendship with Eka. Tara was back to being alone. Being the lone ranger she was once called till Eka forced her into being friends. She relinquished the solitude; she accepted the cruel unfairness of fate.

Tara was now more lost in her thoughts than in the reality that stood before her. She ignored

The Perfect Gentleman

Written by Tobe Osigwe @ikolondigbo

I know of a certain handsome friend whose charming look has made him the cynosure of all eyes and every young ladies dream. The way and manner this young man conducts himself with unassuming poise and panache, his impeccable dress sense, stylish hair cut and his confidence, earned him the sobriquet; Perfect Gentleman or PGM as he is fondly called. to say something I get another slap. I am sure I don’t deserve this
but they must think otherwise. This large woman has been screaming
since she asked me to pay for the rice, beans and kpomo I bought. Theo

Tale 2: It’s not About You, it’s About Me

"How could you trade your virginity for a box of valentine day chocolates?!"

Eka's words were loud and not filtered. It echoed around the girls' dormitory and just as the not mistaken theme song to the NTA 9'o clock news draws attention of parent's to the TV, Eka's words drew the whole attention of the female dorm to the conversation between herself and Tara.

"Eka are you on something?"

The Edge of Commitment 2

Scene 2: CRIMSON LAKE

Big Boys don’t cry.

They walk with swag, chest out, dark aviator shades concealing the crimson lake; with waves which sang warm mocking parables. They keep a tight lip to mask every micro expression, like a villain who could have been on the American Fox show: LIE TO ME. Ironically…Brad lied to himself…

In defence of accent; my accent.

Written by Tobe Osigwe @ikolondigbo.

Towards the end of first half of this year, I was in Patabah Bookshop at Shoprite Adeniran Ogunsanya for Chimamanda Adichie’s Americana’s book reading. Suffice it to say that the shop was over-crowded with conscious and literate Nigerians. Ehm, who said Nigerians do

The Edge of Commitment

Scene 1: love lost

Saying goodbye to her was hard, but it was necessary.

He would definitely miss her, the way she smelt like fresh summer morning in Paris when he woke up in the morning on the days they were fortunate enough to spend together. Her warm assuring smile which was complimented by two heavenly sculptured dimples; her eyes squint in joy at the presence of him by her side. It was too much to sacrifice,

The rain did not prevent her from leaving her house to drop the foodstuff and clothes for the children that depend solely on her. It was her usual practice every last Saturday of the month except November and December. She was always out of the country to spend Christmas with her parents in Johannesburg, South Africa. I was her neighbour for eight years; I knew almost all her routine if not all. The late night light in her room between 9:45pm and 10:00pm every

Valerie,

Why do you tarry? Have you grown weary of fighting for us? Have you succumbed to the pressure of time and space? Are you in doubt? Have you forgotten about all we said before you left?

Tobore

How did I get here? I thought to myself. I thought they said lightening does not strike in the same place twice. Once bitten, twice shy and all that hogwash but not in my case. I have been fooled again.

I have been on the floor of my bathroom for the past two days. I am yet to move an inch even as the stench of the mixture of sweat, tears and dried mucus starts to get offensive. I do not think I have the strength.

I sit here in shorts and bra as I wait for Efe. I wait for her to come soothe my pains. She walks into the bathroom asking me for the charger of my cell phone. I shout at her asking her to go
